SAIFE: Grades 9–12

This course provides a comprehensive analysis of integrating artificial intelligence into secondary education, specifically targeting literacy, numeracy, and digital skills for grades 9-12. The research highlights that structured pedagogical frameworks, such as project-based learning and cognitive scaffolding, are essential for achieving significant gains in student writing and mathematical problem-solving. While AI tools like ChatGPT and specialized tutoring systems offer personalized feedback and increased engagement, their success depends heavily on sustained teacher professional development and institutional support. The sources also address critical challenges, including ethical concerns regarding academic integrity and the potential for a growing equity gap among students of different socioeconomic backgrounds. Ultimately, the findings suggest that the most effective implementations involve hybrid models where teachers act as facilitators who foster critical AI literacy rather than just technical proficiency.
